Rapinoe became one of America's most prolific scorers in her sophomore season with a ten-time scoring streak. But her season ended due to a ruptured ACL. In 2007, she suffered similar injuries, ending her season in just two games. Rapinoe was able to recover from the accident and assisted the Pilots achieve a record of 20-2 in 2008.

Although she was born in Portland she lived her first 5 or 6 year of her adulthood in the tiny town in the state of Boring where her family ran a bee farm although her mother was allergic to bees. She also was surrounded by farm animals as well as farmland. When her parents divorced, they moved from Montana to Seattle and stayed there for just a couple of years as her mom was constantly switching job roles.
