Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar Anoushka Shankar, an Indian-born British American artist and a sitarist, is most well-known for her songs. She was the first woman in her age group to be awarded an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka is the rising star in Indian sitar. She is the child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Born in London in 1982, and spent her early years shuttling to London and New Delhi. Her first performance took place in New Delhi when she was only 13 years old. Later she moved into Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha, who is only 17 years old, has had a successful performing and recording career. Her father has accompanied her on numerous occasions for many years. Her debut single album Anourag in 1998. The Grammy-nominated Live at Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. Stage performance is a significant part of her work. She has performed in a variety of important venues across the world. Her career extends beyond music. In 2002, she wrote a book entitled Bapi The Love of My Live this is a picture-based biography, which is a honor to her late father Ravi Shankar. In addition, she has appeared in films in 2003 she acted in the film Dance Like a Man where she portrays the role of a teenage Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka Shankar's work continues to develop and we are likely to see a variety of things from her in years to come. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent the majority of her childhood in London and Delhi later relocating to California where she attended high school. at the age of nine, she started studying music with her father. Her first performance with the Sitar was during her birthday celebrations for her 75th birthday in Delhi just four years later. The father of Anoushka travelled the globe with her, and she gained many opportunities. When she was still teenagers, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall during Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. Her talent and musicality were acknowledged by the British Parliament as being among the top in Asian Arts.
